“Evening Primrose” & Lightwright™ Touch

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

A Steve Sondheim original at the John Jay Theatre on Monday 22 October, in aid of St. George's Society of New York.

Directed by Tony Walton and starring Jessica Grové, Sean Palmer and Candice Bergen, with lighting by Richard Pilbrow.

The evening also featured the NYC premiere of LIGHTWRIGHT™ TOUCH for the iPad, in beta test. A seamless version of the internationally celebrated lighting software by John McKernon, now at your fingertips. Instant sorting and manipulation. Developed by www.pocketlighting.com.

Say farewell to reams of lighting paperwork!

Another success for Virtual Magic Sheet, the best software gift ever for the lighting designer. The result: a musical with 150 instruments and 80 cues, focussed, tech’ed, lit and rehearsed in seven hours. Thank you to Eric Cornwell and John McKernon.

Also thanks to my associate Michael Gottlieb and great Lynch Theatre,  John Jay College crew led by Master Electrician, Lowell Fox.

Congratulations to Steve Sondheim too, on his new book “Finishing The Hat,” a wonderful compendium of his collected lyrics (1954-1981) with “Attendant Comments, Principles, Heresies, Grudges, Whines and Anecdotes.” A treasury of the musical. I’m deeply privileged to have played a part in introducing him to Britain by co-producing “Forum,” “Company.” and “Night Music,” which led to “Side by Side . . . etc.” for this brilliant man of the theatre.
