I arrived in Dallas in February 1984. This week the Winspear Opera House and Wyly Theatre open!

It’s been a long journey. Behind the glamorous architecture are two theatres, concept design and theatre consulting by Theatre Projects. The outcome of a very long collaboration with the City of Dallas, leading citizens, the Dallas Opera and the Dallas Theatre Center.

Fine architecture (Foster + Partners and REX/OMA) can successfully co-inhabit with state-of-the-art theatre design.

My thanks to TP designers Brian Hall, Carol Allen, John Runia, John Coyne, chief engineer Michael Nishball and team, and project managers Benton Dellinger and Jules Lauve, with (in earlier days) David Taylor. And back to the very beginning studies Lou Fleming and David Staples.
